Re: XTS3000 MDC ID
Update: It apprears that the radio decodes MDC in both scan and normal modes for personalities that are designated for both RX and TX. But the personalities that are set to RX Only do not decode MDC unless the radio is in Scan mode.
Wow, I'm really confused.. lol.

H14 - Digital ID Display. The other one is "Enhanced Digital ID Display." I don't know the code for that, nor do I know what the difference is. Either way, if it has either one of those, it decodes MDC.

Do the ground plane radials have to be the same length as the main antenna radial or do they get cut differently?

I know this is a tad off topic, but I'm sure this is the best place to ask... Here's an idea.
Since they issue you a radio anyway, keep your XTS at home and use the one they give you. Then this way when you bounce the radio off a rock, you wont care about it because it's not your radio.

CDM1550's aren't FLASHport radios. You cannot "flash" them. It is very rare that you will find a UHF LS model that supports signaling. VHF LS Models that support MDC are easier to find. Ebay it and buy a real CDM1550.

IMO, you should junk the HAM stuff, get a CDM1250 or CDM1550 on VHF, get a remote mount, a drill, some screws and a 3/4'' Hole saw; drop your headliner, drill a hole, mount an antenna and mount the radio in the trunk and you'll be set. The remote face will take up two inches, plus the space where yo...
