We have a 100 watt MTR2000 that has been keyed on at 60 watts for the last 6 years.
It is a taxi data TX. It is still pumping out the 60 watts today (touch wood).

They were a great remotes. About 5 watts of RX audio. You could drive extra speakers. Easy to interface extra mics. There is nothing like it out there today.

We are having the same problems on vhf units
You can't be. Motorola says that we are the only ones having problems. There are no other reports of anyone else having issues with Minitor V pagers.

Look at the temperature spec on the repeater. There will be no issue at all with it operation down to 0. The unit will be frequency stable well below that. Look at the Zetron 1512 Sentridial or 1514 DevicePage
Both will dial a number, or connect to a spare DID trunk. They have 8 inputs (the 1512 also has 4 analoge inputs). You can page a dispalay pager with both. You can do voice messages with the 1512,

It comes with the flex circuit attached. The actual LCD module has 5105385Y34 stamped on it, but that is a sub assembly.

We have installed thousands of Motorola radios. Ever since the Maxtrac first came out they have used the in-line blade type fuse holder. There was a change to it about 7 years ago.
I have NEVER seen a faulty one.

What did he "upgrade the fues holder to? What does it look like?

We have rejected Motorolas fix for this problem as a proper solution. It is a bandaid at best.

After the fix is applied, you will notice it takes up to 2 seconds of tone B to decode. With a standard 1 second tone A and 3 second tone B, the pager gives a very short alert tone.

There is an 8 channel limitation on the Spectra Consolette when using tone remote. The TTRC board is only capable of decoding up the 8 channel function tones.
This is a limitation that I am surprised that they have never addressed.

Go with the LMR400 for sure. Also use the "EZ-400" connectors. They are very reliable and have captive pins, so no assembly problems. You will need a crimp tool with a .429 die.

Most parts are 20% margin. This is far from an excessive margin. Most suplliers work on a 40% margin. Motorola's mark up between dealer and retail is generally low.

The BIM is a transformer input, so you really don't need to convert the radio to balanced output .

They generally do a firmware upgrade when they go to depot.
