I just wish the CH100 buttons were customizable. This would allow the radio much more flexibility. I went so far as speaking with an engineer who said they have had that request many times. Forget trying to utilize the siren/light function. Way to many menus to scroll through.

I still have a few of the old X9000/Spectra Aux radios. The biggest issues with the setup is the time bomb capacitors is the Spectra. The X9000 radios are programmed with X9000 RSS SP06 while the Spectra uses normal Spectra RSS.

Hit "program" after each value change. If you just hit "program" after changing more than one value, only the last value will be saved.

This has been resolved by using hex editing a SREC from an identical model number radio. Read the ASK radio's tuning values and recorded them. Read non-ASK radio SREC and edited both serial numbers in hex editing. Dumped modified SREC back into ASK radio, returned radio and programmed with no issues.

Your old control head is for a Syntor X9000. The 1033 heads are not compatible with system 9000 (Spectra). If you search on the board you will see plenty of discussion about this. Turn the switch at the base of the channel selector switch. There should be a "O" and a "O" with a line through it. Move the switch to the "O" and you should be ok. It's looking for en encryption key, which is not present.

You should be fine with your friends machine. Make sure you are running true DOS, not the windows DOS box. "Vintage" machines prices are climbing, If you plan playing with these older radios, I'd grab a computer up when you find one that's clean and in operating condition.

The transmission is random so far. I have a receiver set to record all transmission on the 462.7 freq. I'm only capturing the interference every three days or so. I may set unitrunker up to try to decode this, but I was wanting something that I could play the audio file into, if it exists.

They are in fact NLA. I'm sure it has nothing to do with narrowbanding, as the MCS and some HT1000 will do narrowband. I'm sure it has more to do with marketing.

The Pyramid vehicular repeaters are nice. If you have an Astro Spectra you can buy a "smart cable" from them. These require no physical modifications to the radio.

It sounds like the siren driver is working. When you activate the siren you should be able to hear faint siren tones from the amp, without any speaker hooked up to the speaker leads. Check the speaker leads for a disconnect. You might also try a new siren/PA cable. They are cheap on the used market....

You need an UV eraser and a programmer for the EPROM. There is a PC based programmer that is an aftermarket. I can't remeber who sells it but he's from Australia and he sells on Ebay. Good Luck!

It does appear Motorola has done away with the CPS software license. It is no longer a new license agreemenmt option for me in MOL, and the CPS software for the HT1250 series is now an option for me to "purchase."

Look here for the cable layout. Besides the cable you must have the Siren/PA amp connected to your Spectra or you won't get the DEK to even light up.
