Ok, so I can't simply plug the mic into the current dashmount radio? I need to make it into a remote mount, and plug the mic into the new control head?

While the column shifter isn't a total deal breaker, it was stupid on GMs part not to just move it to the dash, and factor in the $200 cost in the vehicle. They are surely loosing sales over the shifter placement.
