I had the same provlem... I downloaded updated usb drivers from the Intel (motherboard in my laptop) web site. I also loaded the Prolific usb to serial driver. It now works but I do have to go in and update the prolific driver everytime I use the usb port. Its a pain but it now works....Good luck ...
