Will that only record the incoming radio traffic or will it also catch our broadcasts as well?

Recording/Tone Generator on XTL 1500
I work for a small PD and our dispatch center uses an XTL 1500 as our main radio. Is there a way to record radio traffic from the radio itself? I'm also curious if would could generate a tone to alert the officers of a call. Anyone have any experience on how to do it without investing a ton of money?

Battery Stuck on Radio
I just bought a GP380 (ht1250) only to find that the battery is stuck on the radio. I think the release tabs arent functioning on one side and its causeing the entire battery to become stuck. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

As far as channels go I need at least 30 channels for my home county and i need probably another 15-20 for my college county. I'll keep my eye in both the HT1250 ...
