Does anyone in the boards have info on this particular radio?
We have a few here in the lab that we're interfacing to DTE's and was curious as regards this radio. Rumor had it that it was capable of dual band ops as well as analogue and digital ops...

MCS2K and DEK

Hello all, Seems that there is an apparent problem within the programming limits on the DEK. When there are more than 2 DEK's enabled in the MCS2K, (maximum is 3...) and when the external equipment issues a software controlled shutdown command via the SB9600 bus, the MCS2K stays on. (Yes, the soft-o...

If you draw a blank on the screws from Lowes or Home Depot, give McMaster-Carr a look see. In most every vehicle installation I'd recommend using stainless steel security head screws. Price is rather reasonable, too...they do have the tool for those screws...If you were to look at the Tessco catalog...

And...if you're really crazy and want to record more than your local repeater, as well as hook up to a number of radios (or scanners...) take one of the used desktops that is lying around gathering dust, look inside, if it has at least 5 or so free PCI slots, buy some SB 16's, and obtain a legal cop...

Nifty idea! I would also imagine that doing voice and tone remote could be accomplished via one sound card in full duplex mode. There was a program called "SoftRepeater" at one time (freeware/stampware?), it ran off the serial port, and was more a voice store and forward than anything else...

I've been putzing around with a VB program that sends a string of data via the SB9600 bus to prevent the radio (MCS2K) from doing a reset, and attaching an embedded controller head for control purposes...but...this beats all...gonna have some fun 'spearmentin'...

1 Adam 12, Has anyone experience or read about an increase in bad guys using FRS to communicate while out on robberies etc. Yes, they were somewhat active in the Metro DC area, and in South Philly too...in fact they were interfering with our legit operation kinda bad, we moved to another setup... :l...

Hello all, have a small problem that slightly has me stumped... Interfacing a Quantar to a DGMSK modem. Quantar does MSK just fine, but the DGMSK audio is slaughtered due to extreme roll off from 10Hz to 300Hz and above 3Khz...(need to have this puppy as flat as possible.) programmed the Quantar for...

Nextel tries to be 'appealing' to Law Enforcement...

Well, if Nextel does do this then there'll be MORE money spent by public safety..and a lot of State and Local agencies are already strapped for funds. So I guess it'll be a case of the "whoever git's there firstest with the mostest" wins... Stand by folks....there'll be some serious proble...

Two cents time again.. :D I've been in that area of the world that you're going to, and they do tend to give the best channel authorizations to the locals and visitors get the lousy ones. Two items that could be used, (which I've used for temporary setups and system testing...) The first would be to...

I use a liberal amount of common sense, sprinkled with a knowledge of the basics, add a dash of training, and a couple of measures of understanding of the system that I am working on.
