Or if you want cheaper, go with a RICK or one of the many cables that serve the same purpose. When audio delay is needed I use the RAD board from Arcom. Easy to work with and splice inline.

You need to separate the HT from the GM300 to test through the repeater. Better yet test with a buddy that is away from your location.

For CPS programming all the adapter does is add a jumper between pins 1 and 3 that is not there in the mobile cable. You can make something that is a lot less $$$ than what the adapter sells for.

Not sure what you found but the adapter is RJ-45, fits on the end of the mobile cable and then plugs into the mic jack.

MSR's do get wonky over time with all the mechanical connections. Probably time to do the whole enchilada. Card edges, channel elements, pots, etc. Scrub everything down with contact cleaner and then secure it with deoxit or stabilant 22. May save a mountain top trip or two.

For a simple task like that I guess you can get the Midian to work the way you want. I've never tried the VAE-1, prefer to use a Zetron model 18 instead.

Had a Maxtrac once eating diodes. Was on a short bus with a wheelchair lift. The radio was wired too close to the lift solenoid. Re-routing power to battery fixed that.

I've always used Zetron's model 18. Add the RF engine of your choice. Hardest part is sizing the solar to run it. I have installed them as tank fill, remote gate controls, intrusion alarms etc. Works fine.

The OP mentioned turning down the power to 25 watts. The only narrow UHF GM300s I've ever had my hands on were M04's set at 2 watts for LPI service. High power units are much rarer. If they are indeed factory narrow radios, then I capitulate.

Pretty simple speaker panel. Stereo amp and two speakers, four mixed inputs per side. All the needed info is silk-screened on the back. If you need cross mute you'll have to play with the inputs to figure it out but easy enough.

The 4010 has a back-up battery to hold the configuration data. If it goes you loose it all and the console either displays an error message or just plain wigs out. Easy to find and check, should be 3.0V or better. Battery should be replaced every 4 to 5 years.

You can monitor pin 12 of U13 with a volt meter. If there is a change of state while transmitting a dtmf digit, the Zetron is decoding properly. If all digits decode OK, then you'll have to look at programming in the model 30.

A motorcycle set-up shouldn't be too hard to port over to a nice headset. Try Setcom or PVP. Both great to work with.
