Re: XTL5000 P25 and wideband FM (5kHz) and other questions...

The next issue is the narrow / wide band programming. With the FCC mandate, after the passing of the FCC deadline, all radios could only be sold with narrow band ability. Motorola did have a workaround and a software patch to allow certain users that stayed wideband to be able to still program thei...

Re: XTS5000 FPP Explained?

What revision firmware do you have? The latest firmware 20.50.09 allows you to delete all but the first zone with 16 personalities and then have the 17th and on setup as you would the normal non-fpp xts5k.

Works well. Good luck!

Re: ADP error ?

Is the hardware encryption enabled in CPS? They're a checkbox to do this. If it's not checked, keyloader wont recognize it. I haven't heard of a APX not being able to take a key from kvl3000.

Good luck,
Seth

Update for you. Just literally had to do this.

Open excel. Change document type to xml to open. Excel should open it.

Good luck!

Re: APX CPS Export Help

I believe you can change the type of file you export to .csv or xls with the export procedure. I'm not in front of the CPS currently but that's to the best of my recollection.

Good luck!

Re: Convert W5 to W3

To the best of my knowledge it's a different TIB from a W5 but I could be wrong.

O5 And O3 use the same head but the W series I believe has a specific TIB for the W3. Same holds true for the Astro spectra.

Sorry don't have a part number for you.

Good Luck,
Seth

Re: XTS-5000 Flash Upgrades - Am I missing Something?

Thank you for that information. I do find it strange that Motorola would sell me a flash upgrade that ultimately won't work. I personally don't see a difference swapping from FPP to fdma and upgrading from conventional to smartzone. H35 is initially enabled. The upgraded flash disabled H35 and enabl...

That's not it. Change the transmit deviation to 2.5 kHz and you'll see it magically changes to 12.5kHz spacing.

Re: XTS5000 Flashcode to analog?

Conventional system operations are included with smart net. You set analog- non Astro in a personality Digital - Astro You set channel frequencies and PLs in the zone allocation. If in th zone the channel isn't letting you put in PLs. Make sure the channel is directed to a non-Astro personality. Goo...

Re: XTS2500 Cloning

Couple things to start... I believe both radios being cloned have to have the same flash code. Also before writing to the new radio I believe you need to read the radio that your cloning into's serial number. Finally if you use MDC or a trunking system you'll need to change the ID numbers. And final...

Re: Customize Voice Announcement Files

Make sure the .wav file is less than 30kb's. Need to be 8-bit I believe. Astro25 CPS has a good tutorial on making them. Pretty straight forward but multiple steps.

Good luck,

Re: APX8000 Price Question

Yes it seems like a good deal. Probably too good a deal. I just got quoted over 11k each for some 8k's with similar feature sets. Maybe my quote from my distributor is off but something doesn't smell quite right. The radio is in Malaysia currently. I'm always weary when buying overseas. Just my 0.02...

Re: Re: text justification

How many characters are in your zone field? That could be your challenge.

Personally I turn off the zone field and just enter my zone along with the channel name. Gives more flexibility. I.E.; 1 VCALL-10

Hope that helps,
Seth

Re: ASTRO Spectra CPS 05.03.00 and Win7 64 Bit

I have my system setup for dual boot... Windows XP 32bit for all my radio programming, and Win7 64 bit for my regular work... Works like a charm without the headaches...

Making a dual boot system is relatively easy, and I find it more stable than emulating XP in Win7...

Re: Which Radio fits the bill??

Most, if not all, of us here will have a difficult time recalling any Motorola dualband mobile radio. The only thing that comes to mind is a VHF/UHF HT that Vertex made a few years ago. On lowband it's also hard to imagine a mobile that covers the entire band. Years ago Motorola made various types ...

Which Radio fits the bill??

Good Morning All! I am looking to put a mobile into my vehicle. Primarily for Rx, and occassional Tx, for ground missions. In the jurisdictions I run in, I need the entire 30-50Mhz lowband and the VHF 136-174Mhz band... I remember seeing a Motorola mobile that did infact Rx and Tx on 33Mhz and 46Mhz...
