Re: Siren Compatiblity Issues

We used a spare xtl500 to get it working, the problem was with that 494 spectra/astro radio. This was unsual to me for I have seen this issue in the past. We did try changing the siren box as well and cabling but to no aval. It must have been something wrong with that radio. I have no idea why thoug...

Siren Compatiblity Issues

I have a bunch of 1185E and 1439E model siren boxes I know they are compatible with XTL5000 W-9 and 0-5 control head radios. However we also have Astro model radios that were flashed and was wondering what model siren boxes are compatible with this radio. The radio is a model: T04UJH9PW9AN (W-9 cont...

Re: XTL5000 05 Siren

Battery Drain issue I have an XTL5000 V10 Firmware 700/800 with an 05 Control head running V5 Firmware. Radio is tied to legacy dek box (same one from my W9) via an HKN-6-89A cable if my list here is correct. I am using an older HLN1185 siren amp and have had no problems other than i seemed to be dr...

Re: xtl5000 interference problem

Question you stated above that your using a Federal siren system. Are you trying to have the radio go out over the siren for external radio? If so the motorola's weren't designed to play well with other siren systems. I have had nothing but trouble in the past with that. I have had is cause random e...

Re: HELP! 2004 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer install

What I have done in the past with a situation simular to this was I made a mount out of a cut down sheet of plywood and mounted it to the back of the back seats in the cargo area. That way it would slove the issue. We had to do this to a hybrid espace because of the battery under the cargo area.

Re: havis console for 08 chevy TB Anyone this before?

Each mount when ordered can have custom made cut outs for various radios. If you have the console already call Havis shield directly and see how much the custom cut outs are. But that box should be big enough. I have used Havis sheild consoles before and was able to install a front mount MCS2000 in ...

Re: Second speaker on a Spectra

If a person chooses to completely ignore Ohms Law and connects multiple speakers in a way that causes a different load on the radio's audio output then serious problems may follow. Do it right the first time to avoid this possibility. Here's how it's done: Assume the radio's output is 8 ohms, so yo...

Re: Mounting grill lights

At our shop what we do in the case of open grill mounting is take some wood or metal, cut to the size of the light, and painted black and use the nut and bolts that come with the unit, and basically sandwich the grill between the backer and light. Sound Off Signal has the same brakets for their ver...

Re: Second speaker on a Spectra

This is what we have done at the here in Charlotte for our trucks. We would take two speakers splice them together in polarity before the connector on the speaker side then connect the connector to the radio. I'm not saying this is the best way but for time involved and what not it has worked for us...

Re: Siren blows fuses. HELP !!!!!

I have found that when these boxes have been repaired before some times the tech before me may not have checked the polarity of the diode next to the capcitor I was talking about. The part in question is mark with part number 018752T42. The diode is designed to be there so if some one jumps the car ...

Re: Siren Amp

Never swap system 9000 siren boxes with Astro/spectra siren boxes, I have found it will cause intermitten problems with the radio. The astro/spectra siren boxes are digital, the system 9000 are analog. The do work but it will cause crazy issues with the radio. I have seen it say out of range and hav...

Trunk Lip mount antenna base can be purchased from tessco for very little money, they work great for us in many situation especially when trying to keep the antenna spacing far enough from each other. Look them up and they work great. Note* make sure trunk lid or hood is grounded well had problems w...

Re: Siren blows fuses. HELP !!!!!

I have the same issue here at the City of Charlotte. I have the Astro / Spectra Siren boxes with XTL5000 radios. The siren does the same thing. However we are fixing the boxes our seleves and ordering parts from Motorola and so far no fix for three of them. I have found that there is a short not and...
