Identifying Motorola portable antenna
I have a bunch of UHF DP-1400 portables and they all have a 9cm stubby antenna. The antenna says Motorola UHF in the plastic moulding, and at the base connecter is surrounded by a white plastic ring. There is a blue paint stripe accross the base of the MX screw thread, but no other markings. Does an...

Re: PTT ID possible on Trbo?
Thanks for the info Alex. We'll get a hold of an alphanumeric display model and start playing around. BTW, we are comparing our Trbo system against a competitor's Icom IDAS system, and the Trbo consistently provides more intelligible audio, and at 25 Watts outperforms the Icom repeater at 50Watts. T...

PTT ID possible on Trbo?
Hi, I have a Mototrbo system up and running and it's working extremely well. The only problem is that my client would like an alphanumeric ID of each DP-3400 portable radio to show up on the DM-3600 base station as it PTT's. Surely this is an easy enough thing to do, but according to the Motorola di...

Commercial Series S/W error code 768
Hi, I have a colleague in Malawi, Central Africa, who has a problem using the Commercial Series software to program some CP-040's (I think the US version is an EP-450). It looks like he's doing everything right, but the software returns an Error Code # 768 when he tries to read the radio. The "...

Re: Is this a feasible system?
Yup, Trbo is definitely the future of LMR. The only problem is that, while Motorola manufacture great equipment, they seem incapable of meeting availability targets. They always promise that a certain product will be available by a certain date, the sales people sell systems based on the information...

Is this a feasible system?
Hi all, I am trying to put a system together for a large game reserve (16,500 sq miles) in NW Mozambique. At the moment they have several concession holders who are using a variety of analogue VHF radios, but their coverage is obviously very limited. The huge area can't be covered by only one repeat...

Thanks for the info Will.
Jedi radios? I didn't realise that the big M made radios for Luke Skywalker
The Jedi range was never released in our market either. I'll have a look at the Jedi pages for the info.
May the force be with you

MTX900 and MTX838 Antenna Part Numbers?
Good morning, I'm in South Africa and I have a client who is looking for replacement antennas for their MTX-900 and MTX-838 VHF (146-174MHz) radios. The MTX series was never sold into this region (I think my client originally bought the equipment from the US), so the local Motorola guys don't have t...

Re: Repeater linking via the Internet
Thanks to everyone for their responses. I have settled on the JPS NXU-2 unit as there is a local representative here. Also, it looks like a quality product.
Cheers,
Marc

Repeater linking via the Internet
Hi,
Has anyone sucessfully linked two MTR-2000's via the Internet?
How do I go about doing this quickly, yet with good reliability?
I look forward to excellent advice as usual from this forum.

Re: Anyone ever use passive antennas?
Thanks for the replies, and for confirming my suspicions. I've used passive repeaters also for GSM 900/1800 and they're very useful in industrial areas where there is no signal into certain control roome etc. One solution to my problem is to put up additional repeaters on site, and put a UHF link in...

Anyone ever use passive antennas?
Hello all, I have a rather difficult situation to resolve in the Congo at the moment. My client has an office in town with a decent tower and has four MTR-2000 VHF repeaters on the tower. The client also has a mine site about 11 miles away, but unfortunately it is situated on the other side of a sma...

GP/GM 300 programming issues
Hello, 1) I hope this doesn't contravene forum rules, but I have heard that there is a Windows version of the RSS for the old GP-300 radios. Can anyone confirm? Where can I purchase this software? I still have literally hundreds of clients using P-110's and GP-300's all over Africa and programming i...

I was under the impression that VHF and UHF waves are almost entirely absorbed by very little water, making conventional radio useage impossible over more than a few inches under water. As far as I'm aware, the subs essentially use the ionosphere and the surface of the ocean as a kind of waveguide t...

Zetron ZR310 in the middle of nowhere!!!
Good day, I'm currently in north eastern Angola in the bush, miles from anywhere at a prospecting camp (about 120 miles from the nearest porcelain toilet  ). They have two Motorola CM-140's that I have programmed up for them, and they are interfaced by a ZR310 panel. The panel currently lights ...

RLN5288 Public Address Kit with HSN1000 spwaker
Hi all, I am thinking of installing the RLN5288 PA kit and HS1000 6W amplified speaker into a vehicle that will be used for educational training in rural areas in Africa as part of an extensive humanitarian excercise. The vehicle will typically be parked in a village, and the villagers (usually betw...

There is no question that a well designed screwdriver-type antenna will outperform just about any other type of mobile wide-band antenna system. Unfortunately they are necessarily big and ugly. I don't use one, but only because I need very rapid tuning for ALE purposes. If I could get by with the sl...

Micom-1000 Amplifier
Hi all, I am desperately looking for some information about a Motorola Micom-1000 HF amplifier that I managed to get my paws on. It is in excellent condition except that it is missing the Harmonic Filter/VSWR Detector board. As far as I know, the amp was built as a dropship item by a company other t...

OEM for Micom-1000 amplifier
Hi, I have recently bought a Micom-1000 HF amplifier (beautifully constructed, and wonderful design :D :D :D ) and upon trying to get it to work have discovered that it is missing some components. Motorola is an obvious option, but very expensive  I see that many of the boards have the name &q...
