Should be a switch mounted on the brake pedal bracket. It night be combined with the brake light switch, but the wiring should be separate.

Try finding a 2.5-3.5 inch hard drive adapter. The MW-520 uses a standard laptop hard drive, and with the adapter you will be able to connect it to a standard PC. Copy over your Windows 98 install files and you should be fine.

Basically, no. They're "dumb" terminals- dependant on a host computer for everything not hard-coded into the computer's memory. I have been interested in a project like this for years and the only devices I found that would work without $10,000+ of infrastructure were (surprise) not Motoro...

You've gotta have the right software. mw520.motorola.com seems to be gone- thats where I got all my drivers from. Do a search for mw520 and you should find some posts with useful info.

I'll see if I cant dig up one of my mw520's and copy you the drivers.

What I've done is bought a little 2.5-3.5" adapter (like 3 bucks) and used my desktop to copy Win98 to it.

Removing the HD is a snap. Unscrew the screws on the top cover, lift it up, and the HD is mounted on the cover. Disconnect the little connector and then unscrew the HD from it's mount.

The Mw520 is stand-alone, right? I know that the M(K)DT's are "dumb" terminals but I always understood that the MW series was more like a PC with a RF modem rather than some sort of a node.

Unless you like like the Unabomber did, you should be able to find a GE & MA/COM shop in the phone book under "Radio". The MPA was a good, popular GE radio, and most GE shops will be able to program them for you.

Um...what do you mean? For two separate systems to intercommunicate? That, you'd use patches and such.

For a /\/\ radio to work on an E/GE system? Unless you have one of the rumored radios which is said to do both (note: rumored), you're stuck with two radios.

OT again......but, you'd be surprised at how visible the steady red light is. It's called a "take down" light, and is basically a for-sure signal that the officer behind you is pulling YOU over. Quite visible, and most LEV's have two of them.
