It will pass the ID of the mobile when you are transmitting. Much smaller, too. DVRS is HUGE!

The DB25 will not be plug and play. But I think it will work OK transposing the proper pins on the amplified speaker, etc.

I have one same situation that is on the "whenever I get to it" pile.

Similar problems here. I'm suspicious that the Ht750 inside the VRS may have drifted a tad. I reprogrammed to wideband and things worked a lot better. I just have not made the cable to do the VRS750 alignment. If it fixe things I'll advise accordingly.

Folks, I have seen older posts indicating that the aforementioned can't be done; that you can not combine an O5 and an O3 HHCH control head on the same radio. Is anyone aware if this has been enabled in any of the recent firmware updates? I may just try it, but wisdom is appreciated in this situatio...

Simply throttle back the RF output of the UHF radio to 50% or less rated output power and you'll be fine.

I use 2 CDM's as repeaters all the time in VHF and UHF. Works fantastic. We have about 6 of then set up in Pelican cases for SAR ops.

Bill, having played with a lot of Sabers, I have seen this exact behavior, and it is because of the low split synthesizer module. Discontinued VRS750's were a lot less than the DVRS. Plug and play. I have 2 in my car now!

I think they were about $2k list.

I've seen this with an M5 XTL2500 VHF and it was hit and miss. One day it would be fine and the next day it would be really dark, then it would just fix itself while the radio was still on. You can easily add your name to the display. This is under RADIO WIDE options, the GENERAL tab. At the very bottom is RADIO ID ALIAS. Just type in the unit designator. It will show on the second line of the LCD display once programmed.

I have, though the H3335 and H3391. The mic is the same. I have about 8 of them that I put hirose cords on them to use with various radios with an adapter. Just replace the cord and throttle down the amp on the mic. Works great.

As far as I know, the XTL2500 can't be used with a VRS. But the VRS750 is virtually plug and play on the XTl5000.

As far as I know, the XTL5000 is the only XTL that supports VRS and/or DVRS. I have a VRS750 on mine, and it was plug and play.

3M makes a good aluminum tape. I have a 1" wide roll that's lasted a while, but I suspect Grainger carries it. It sticks well. I use it for "soft" radials in situations just like you are talking about.

I have UHF motherboards (short and long), and a bunch of frames. Most knobs are gone, but the pot, rotary, and side flex are in good condition. Let me know if yours is secure or not, and I can see what I can scrounge for you. I have lots of spare parts in converting some 403's into 450's.

If you have access to an O5 head, you might try that to see if your problem goes away. I have mine on an O5 and it works fine. I have a friend with an O3 that I may see this weekend. Maybe we can try it on his and see what happens.

At APCO, the sales staff was saying that it will be about $500 more than a comparably equipped XTS5000. So, it's all going to be driven on the flash options that a user selects. From a sales standpoint, they say it will save customers money that no longer need two radios flashed with the same option...

That's correct. A standard Systems Saber will go 140-180 continuous with a little degradation at the end limits with the version 3 software. I have several programmed just as you have described.

Bluetooth headset

The engineers at David Clark say that they should have a bluetooth headset in 6 months or so, though I would imagine it would just be the headset part. I suspect it would be intended for use with cell phones in high noise areas.
