Re: AMTS 217 band reallocation issues

I'm not going to get very specific because I think this is the cusp of a bigger problem, and big players are involved. There are a number of patient monitoring systems that utilize the low power unlicensed portion of the 220 band from 216-217Mhz. These things transmit periodic data bursts at around ...

Why would you want that? That should be an invalid state. The first to receive causes the other to transmit. ie: not receive. So, there would not be a second receive to get simultaneously. It's not present.

Just so you know, it's not a problem unique to SLR repeaters. I've had it happen on MOT MTR2k and Quantars, and with Daniels, and Tait repeaters. Not to speak for him, but my experience with this problem is traffic passes perfectly. I've heard this before on a Quantar VHF simulcast. People have reported it on other systems. It is always a variety of VSWR where RF gets back into the radio causing an acoustic loop. Well, it sounds like voltmeter time. You have to verify that (A) the tx CDM will xmit when a ground is applied to pin 3, and (B) that a high on the rx radio pin 8 turns into a low on tx pin 3.

We use the DDB half rack cabinets too. Like you said, not extravagant, but they get the job done. Salt air is your enemy on the ethernet connectors. Replace the jumper cables, but give their RJ's a quick dash of WD40. Then insert multiple times. The scrubbing will help clean the contacts.
