All of those indicate the corrective action as "reprogram the codeplug"....
This doesn't always work. You may have to force a codeplug into it. IF that doesn't work probably time for a "new" radio.

To the OP. I re-read your first post and perhaps I am confused. You are attempting to read it and it comes back with the control head error correct? You say nothing about writing to the radio. So if this is the case have you attempted to look at the read data after the read and getting the error?

If it is remote mount just change the control head type in the CPS, correct the button layout and mode names (make them longer if you want) and put on the W9 head.
If it is dashmount you will need to add the remote mount parts obviously.

Try a different dek if you haven't. Assuming you have the dek turned on and programmed for all the appropriate siren buttons and the siren feature itself is enabled it should work. If not then a hardware failure I would presume. Not some ancient firmware in it??

That is a completely "new" radio so the radio, head, cables will all need to be replaced obviously. As far as dek and siren/pa/vrs you can still uses those. You will need a new dek cable to go from the control head to the first dek.

Re: Looking for XTS5000 QCII programming help
Your firmware supports QCII. I am assuming you have set up your QCII tables and then you have to assign them to specfic personalities and in turn assign those personalities to the proper mode in the zone/mode assignments. How have you been trying to set them up?
