If it's a "new" radio with a valid serial number, why no tags? Do the math. FWIW, there is a problem with the VOCON boards in the 8000XEs. Ours are in the process of being replaced. Sidenote: all of that seller's radios are without tags but have "valid serial numbers". Something ...

Sounds more like a rebanded system and your radio doesn't have rebanded firmware. MTS2000s would do this with pre-rebanding firmware with the correct rebanded CCs set. When the CC directs the subscriber to a rebanded VC, the radio goes to the wrong channel.

There is no "parameter", it's known as a bandsplit, and yes, the bandsplit can be stretched slightly, 10-20MHz max without serious degradation. But it won't go 50MHz or the 400MHz you want. An 800MHz radio won't become a UHF radio unless you swap the entire RF board with a UHF one.

I've had this problem creep up before, and I think it's firmware related. Pre 6.xx firmware doesn't always play nice with CPS. IIRC the MTS2000s I had at the time were R5.42 and would program fine (CPS R02.03) on an old 400MHz P2, factory RIB and cable, but would just plain not work with a faster CPU.

Check the RF switch on the RF board, these can be problematic on all Jedi radios. If there is power coming INTO the RF switch, you may have to bypass it (not a big deal unless you plan to use it with a JVA or public safety RSM). If the RF switch is good, than you may have a bad PA.

That doesn't sound like a bad PA, that sounds like a bad battery (not enough current to transmit). What you describe is the power cycling off then back on when you go to key up. Usually see this when a battery is old and has insufficient current available to transmit.
