Mode Select - Astro Spectra
I'm having some trouble getting the "mode select" feature to work. I've assigned three buttons to mode select (MS1, MS2, and MS3). From the CPS, it explains that a long press programs a particular channel/mode to that button, and a quick press thereafter will direct the radio to that chann...

Re: Way OT: Chicago Police Info / Audio request
The other request is, would anyone be able to send me a few hours of recordings from 1 or 2 very busy Chicago PD frequencies? I really enjoyed listening to Citywide-1 while I was there, and I can't find an online scanner anywhere for Chicago PD. Lots of fun. Incidentbroadcast.com provides an online...

Codeplug Needed for XTS5000 UHF
I'm in need of a codeplug for a UHF XTS5000.
Model Number: H18QDF9PW6AN
Flash: 100004-000000-4
I know chances are slim, but I'm hoping that someone has one. I've checked codeplug supersite--no luck.
Thanks!

Considering Upgrade to SS2000
I have used simple SPST switches in order to control my electronics for quite some time. As I add more electronics, I add more switches. I’m getting quite a nest of wires and a rather unorganized looking setup. I’m thinking about upgrading to a Federal Signal SS2000. I’ve seen a lot of discussion ab...

Thanks to all for the advice. Unfortunately, running the green/orange leads and connecting them directly to the battery did not make any difference at all. So, apparently it wasn't a voltage differential issue between the control head and the drawer. I double checked the main wire to the drawer and ...

Problems with Maratrac Install
I have installed a VHF Maratrac in a 1993 Toyota Celica and am having problems with the radio. When I key up, it works fine for about one full second. My meter shows ~ 100 watts and the audio sounds fine. However, after a second, the power drops for the rest of the transmission. I can hear the signa...

Maratrac HUB Microphone Modification
I'm looking for a way to get my Maratracs to decode a PL at all times, not just when the mic is hung up. Unlike the Maxtrac, GM300, or other mobiles, the Maratrac RSS doesn't have an option to disable to HUB feature. On the Maxtrac, GM300, and other mobile radios, it's pretty easy to make the modifi...

Doesn't appear to be anything else using the serial port. I checked device manager. No conflicts either. Says it's working properly. One thing I did not mention in my original post was that it runs XTS series CPS just fine and programs without a problem. So I thought maybe the problem lies in either...

Laptop Won't Program Astro Spectra
I have a 1.8 GHz HP desktop that programs my Astro Spectra just fine. However, my Compaq M700 400 MHz laptop will not program it. I know that the laptop is older and slower than the desktop, but it is still within the required specifications to run AS CPS. When trying to program with the laptop, CPS...

Saber MPL
I've heard from some that the Saber III does have the MPL feature while others say it does not. I did a search on this forum and came across a posting which claimed that only System Sabers do MPL. Can anyone clear this up? Which flavor(s) of the Saber does MPL?

Astro Spectra External Radio Help
I have just added a PA/Siren unit to my Astro Spectra but am having some trouble with the External Radio feature. The PA works fine. When I press the PA button it engages and gives me the option to adjust the volume. However, when I press the External Radio button the display flashes "External ...

MPL Feature
I’m curious as to which Motorola radios have the MPL feature. The ones that I know of which have this feature are the Spectras and Sabers. I can't think of any others. Are these the only radios that offered MPL? Do any newer models have this feature or something similar? Seems like I read somewhere ...

Low Split VHF Spectra 110 Watt
Is there such a thing? Sure there are plenty VHF low split 50 watt Spectras but I have never heard anyone mention a 136-162 split 110 watt Spectra. There seems to be tons of 146-174 110 watt Spectras though.

JT1000 Problem
My JT1000 has developed a very faint ringing or high pitched tone on transmissions. It seems to be getting worse and the radio has now developed a faint clicking sound as well. At this point it is more of an annoyance than anything and isn't quite bad enough to cause any difficulties in understandin...

JT1000 Question
I am aware that the HT1000 “A” models do not have the Audio Gain Control (AGC) feature and that the “B, C, and D” models do. But what about the JT1000? Do JT1000's “A” models have the AGC feature?
Thanks,
Randy

Motorola Maxtrac 300?
I'm thinking about buying a used Maxtrac. One of the two that I'm interested in is advertised as a "Maxtrac 300," the other is just "Maxtrac." They are both priced about the same, and are both VHF 32 Channel. Are these two different versions? If so, what are the differences? Than...
