What kind of external device to decode?

Is this external device a connection to the J6 backplane wireline connector?

What is an OTA command? Our Passport Network uses handheld radios, HT1250-LS+. Are you saying we could send a command using our handhelds?

Sorry for my ignorance here...Not sure what you mean by "change to a mode(channel) that is rx only". The MTR2000 has a wireline card installed, I dont have the documentation for it, guess I better find some. Can I assume you connect a phone line or some interface(tone decoder) the the back wireline ...
