Re: XTL2500 simply won't passive scan

FWIW, triple-check your codeplug settings. I dunno wth I did, but with an XTL I went through to set it up the same way I did two other radios... and it would try to affiliate. After spending hours going through the codeplug, I reverted to a backup codeplug from before I started setting it up. From t...

Re: XTS3000 ADP

Just an FYI - the "software encryption" option in XTS3000's in reference to encryption if you have a VSELP firmware loaded onto the subscriber. If you need ENC with the ASTRO series (i.e. Astro Spectra / Astro Saber / XTS3000), you need an EMC or a UCM and a KVL with analog or IMBE (a.k.a....

Re: APX7000XE Model #

So with the APX7000 or XE the model # is the same regardless of the band splits. You'll need the FlashCode of the radio, the TANAPA, or the FCC ID(s) to know what the band split of the radio are. The Model # does, however, indicate whether it's a XE or Non-XE H97xxxxxxxxx = APX7000 H49xxxxxxxxx = AP...

Codeplug Request : VHF High-Power MotoTRBO XPR2500 (AAM02JQH9JA1AN)

Hey All - Picked up a radio from EBay, XPR2500 High Power (25W - 45W). It's basically a CM300d, but with 128 channel capacity and Digital enabled by default. Go to read it : Yea... corrupted codeplug :( Recover option - "No Packages Found", and since I just picked it up : No saved archive....

Re: XTS UCM Firmware

Yes, there are definitely MACE UCMs for X series radios, and they are in the 7.xx.xx firmware range. The last couple of years of XTS5000 production that is what was used, from what I've seen. Any chance you happen to know if you can Key-load the newer MACE-style UCM's with a KVL3000, or is KVL3000+...

Re: MTS2000 CPS on Windows 7 64 Bit????

There's 16-bit calls in the MTS2000 CPS, and that's a no-go on a 64-bit Windows Operating System. This was no big deal when most of the folks about there servicing /\/\ gear used 32-bit operating system (biggest being : Windows XP Professional)... now, not so much :-/ Long story short : You'll eithe...

Latest was 05.07.15 for UCM's.

Any chance you have one of the mystical XTS/XTL MACE's? I remember on P25.ca they claimed that such a beast existed.

Ok, I'm probably completely dense here, but is there some indication that I'm just not seeing as to whether a post has been read or not? I was one of the ones that used to old "black" theme where it was stupid-simple to tell if a post was read or not because the unread ones were neon-yello...

Re: XTS2500 codeplug password

Hi Sarge - I recently had this problem with an XTL1500 I picked up, so I'm sympathetic to your situation. I used HxD, and opened up the application in RAM once I got to the prompt in CPS asking me for the password. Since the EXE for the ASTRO25 CPSes are over 20MB, that's _A LOT_ of text to scan thr...

Are you trying to update a SUC?

I was able to bump a V1.2 IMPRES SUC (WPLN4114AR) a few months back (November of 2013) to V3.9 no problem.

Used a RLN5671A Field Programmer ordered fro MOL.

Re: XTL 5000 VS ASTRO SPECTRA

XTL-series Narrow-band is all enforced via FlashCode. Option "G507 - 12.5 kHz FCC Mandate", is the option you DON'T want. As long as you're G507-free, you can use 25 kHz spacing whether or not you're within FCC regulation. When you're looking at a radio for potential purchase, just ask for...

...CKR = ASTRO25 mode... That is incredibly useful to know (not being sarcastic). I still have some R02.XX EMCs, so I'll have to continue to use ASN for those But, I'll have to play around with the one XTS3000 I have with an R03.XX UCM and get that programmed the same way as my ASTRO 25 gear. Thank...

Re: Radio Advice - XTS3000 or Astro Saber

Well, I went with an XTS3K MII. Just waiting on the case to come in. This is an upgrade from a CP200XLS and its quite an upgrade for me. I went with a high capacity NIMH battery and the thing is a little heavy but hey. Quick question as this would be a bonus if the radio can do it, does the most cu...

Re: Entry Level CPS's

So, this is a shot in the dark, but the CPS for the CP185 looks an awful lot like the TRBO CPS. However that being said, it looks like it takes serial-based programming cables so I highly doubt it talks via a network device like the TRBO radios do. Any chance you tried the trick where you get to the...

So when I recently bought two ASTRO 25 portables (XTS 1500 & XTS2500) I wanted to make sure that these had decent wide-band VHF antennas since I was going to be using these for HAM, MURS, and monitoring the Public Safety folk in the area (contrary to what Motorola may want us to believe, all of ...

No cancellation has been announced for the XTS2500/XTS1500 radios at this time. I still see 1500 & 2500's everywhere... the XTS5000... not so much. If folks are getting their mileage out of the XTS3000's is any indication, I have a feeling ASTRO25 isn't fading out just yet... unless Motorola wa...

I know of organizations that selected MOTO TRBO rather than APCO P25 because of the cost. It is a concern to me. I found it interesting that the author recommended that radio manufacturers match and/or lower the price of the P25 gear to that of DMR / NXDN / etc Curious if the Motorola brass is thin...

I've had the same issues described above. I figured out the same workaround of getting the portable into programming mode first, then plugging the cable in. It's worth noting that I'm using a $10.00 Chinese cable. I've also seen on P25.ca that there are issues with using R02.03 with Win7 x64 unless ...
