Ok, I know there are known problems with some jedi displays. My babied-to -death MTS, that I bought NEW, and has not ever been abused has this display problem with missing pixels. What I do to my MTS is rest the control knob against a table/hard surface and GENTLY tap the bottom of the radio with the heel of my hand (as to tap the knob down to make contact with the housing- that usually, at least for a while "tightens" the feel of the knob.

Thanks, couldn't recall what the rss looked like and we are getting the 1550's at work- seems that our biomed dept. can't figure out how to do it, so they called ME because I recomended the 1550 over the 1250.

Is there a way to assign the call playback (quick call) feature to one button as opposed to having to go into the menu to play back the call?

I no longer have one and can't remember how the rss allows you to set it up.

True, most radios have the option of MDC pre/post,

However, this refers to MDC ID only, not preamble which I'm sure is available "pre" only.

Preamble would serve no purpose post ID

Well, didn't think of that but aren't I simply "extending" the antenna from its normal place?

Thanks Tom, I guess the ham stuff is generally sma, I looked at using a Comet model# ht-255 -- looked perfect exept its SMA, Damn !!! Maybe I'll try installing a TNC female chassis mount in the mic instead of the BNC, Any recommendations for a source for such an item? Rat shack is so totally useless...
