Unless you are talking about Minitor 5 or 6 you are out of luck. The entire PC board is built for the specific sub-range, so it could easily be deaf as a fencepost if youtry to move them too far. I believe the numbers Escomm is looking at are for the preselector filters. TxRx has a very nice six 10" can BPBR design that is specifically built for 600 KHz T-R separation. Bandwidth of each leg (for alternate operation on two channels) is about 67 kHz with slightly degraded performance: add...

The controller needs to see a second station on a different RF channel that can serve as the backup control channel if station 1 TX fails or RX1 is hit with hostile receiver interference.

There's nothng worong with using "the good stuff," either Superflex or Heliax. Those connectors don't rely on the cable braid for mechanical strength. I'd suggest just a short pigtail of 1/4" inside the mounting tube with an N connector at the bottom. Then make up an appropriate lengt...

Re: Low band CDM - why do you need 3 radios to cover from 30 - 50MHz?

The receive side is easy - you just need an SDR-RSP2 and SDR UNO software and a laptop to run it. Price is about $150 USD. But that ignores the antenna system which needs to provide a nominal 50 ohm impedance to the radio for transmit (RL<15 dB), across the entire 30 to 50 MHz window, and develop le...

Re: Maxtrac 144-174 split?

The bandsplits are caused by both the synthesizer programming and RF switch filtering on the PA board. The traditional splits of 146-162 and 162-174 were normal in the USA, and I recall seeing a compromised third version built just for Uncle Sam's 136-150.8 window.
