I have no P25 Commercial systems anywhere near me and I am in the 6th largest city in America.

where are you getting prices from most of the kenwood stuff is in the $3-400 range for mid line portables if you add 10-20% to that it might make it $500.00 for a full featured radio that will do 2 tone (sorry had to dig the XTS5K)but that sure beats $800.00 and only getting to deal with 1 dealer ...

Kenwood had some of the Beta versions @ IWCE in april. Repeaters and like 5 or 6 portables looked like it used the TK272 portable chasis.looked cool and sounded great but time will tell how it all pans out in the "real world" (multi path & what not )

they could be (gasp) speed call boxes sounds like DTMF or the could be running Dinets (white box about 6" x 8" with stat us buttons) dinets use FSK data for status & PTT ID not quite the same as MDC 1200 but can be mistaken for that by the casual listener JD
