Neat little radio. Bought a couple of extra batteries off Ebay real cheap. Battery life isn't the greatest but when batteries are cheap, who cares?

Grab the fancy charger which will allow you to charge the radio, an extra battery and your Bluetooth headset at the same time.

It doesn't matter as his older CPS will still not recognize the newer package.

He must have CPS8 installed before that firmware is recognized and selectable as an upgrade.

You'll need CPS 8 to install that firmware.

Older versions will ignore the firmware even though you've installed it.

No, a TRBO radio is limited to one ID in total.

Quite a problem if you've got multiple systems with different ID's assigned on each.

32016 is a Uniden talkgroup number which converts to a Motorola hex talkgroup of 7d1 not 7d10.

There was a 6m repeater cosited with an 800Mhz trunking system that had a voice repeater 1Mhz offset from the primary control channel.

Repeater was basically useless when that voice repeater fired up.

Only solution was to move the repeater to another site.

I believe the NAC uses the last two digits of the System ID plus something which roughly corresponds to the Connect Tone ID.

I would start off at 9e0, 9e1 and so on.

I believe there's 6 Connect Tones so the highest you would need to try would be 9e5.

You should probably be able to enable hardware encryption using the CPS along with the powerup self test alert.

If you get a good tone on powerup, you've got an encryption board.

If you get a boop, you don't have an encryption board.

Anybody have a DIU real cheap? The DIU would be the best solution but it would probably cost as much as the Quantar. For large installations we tend to use Allgon repeaters with either RF or Fiber distributed antenna systems.

I've successfully used the high cap LiIon battery and the tall NiMH battery without problems so far.

This is with the v3.4 firmware and I believe the 1.7 display firmware that came out a couple of months ago.

My 3.4 charger has no problems with APX batteries either. I don't believe an upgrade is needed.

If you're asking whether you can have an alias show up instead of 7xxxxx then no, your radio does not support that feature.

You'll need the full keypad mic and it's not something you can program with CPS.

Not sure which revision firmware the feature came with but I think it's pretty recent.
