I heard from a birdy that they are planning on implementing this, but the radio will only support DMR or P25, and to change modes you will need to reboot it. So no DMR/P25 existing side by side. I'm guessing you may have a DP4600/4601 or DP4800/4801 with a 7550 label/case on it. What's the model number of your radio? If you're in the US/Canada and it's a radio meant for the US/Canada, it should begin with AA (North America). If it's not, it'll probably begin with MD ot LA.

It does look a lot like a satellite radio antenna connector. I wonder if you had a spare one laying around and it's not required, try the connector to see if it fits and if so, cut it up and try using that?

Looking at the 2 radios side-by-side, the chassis are different and the battery contacts are in a different location. So I don't think that'll be an option.

Chances are no. Since it's the newest FW, it's more than likely only programmable with cps15.0 build 754. Upgrading the subscriber unit to ver 2.8 shouldn't even be possible unless you're using CPS 15.

MOL has not been properly uploading to their virtual directories for a couple years now and nobody at Motorola has the competence to fix the problem even when they are walked through it step by step and reproduce the error them...

Agreed. Since Analog is unquestionably going by the wayside, what happens when we reach the point where most everything commercial is some flavor of DMR, and everything public safety is P25? I did the same thing at an Apco trade show last fall. I mentioned it to a few of their reps and the importance of having it in the apx line. He didn't rule it out and said they have heard that from quite a few people and services in the past. It sure as heck would be handy to have!
