Motorola Promotional Items

Where can we get these from?

I happen to know a die-hard GE guy that hates Motorola, that I'd like to make a balloon bouquet of these to deliver to him at work for his birthday.

Re: PT300/PT400

Steve McGarrett got to use a PT-300 HT-200 prices will remain low until McCloud comes back in re-runs, with Dennis Weaver speaking into the wrong side of the radio. Funny that the original Starsky and Hutch series never did much for HT-220 and Micor prices on eBay So is there a list out there of wh...

PT300/PT400

Every time I see one of the Motorola lunchbox (PT300 or PT400) radios on eBay the price goes sky-high for what is basically an MT500 (*yuck*) in a HUGE box. Anybody know what's so hot about these radios? I could see possibly wanting one to fill out a Motorola shrine similar to the one in my home off...

Re: Syntor X

I've heard that it's also possible to make a SyntorX into a SyntorX9000 and thus be software programmable. I think I saw it outlined somewhere on Mike's Syntor site: http://www.open.org/%7Eblenderm/index.html I haven't actually tried to do this, but I have a low band SyntorX and high band X9000 with...

Re: saber question

Another possibility is that you have an ATS Saber. I've never seen an ATS as a Saber II, only as a Saber I, but they take a totally different RSS from Saber and System Saber. From what I could see of an ATS is that it looked like it was a standard Saber model that could do trunking, but lacked the o...

Red HT220

I got this HT220 in a bright red case with only one button on top, in a guard to prevent accidental actuation marked EMERGENCY.

Inside the radio is a 1200Hz PL reed.

Obviously it's a distress beacon of some type. Anyone know where it would have been used?

Re: How to identify a STX?

The STX comes 3 ways STX, STX 800 and STX 821. STX model numbers: I let someone borrow my STX service manual so I'll have to get back to you on that. The cases are all the same, the different sub-models (800 and 821) are marked on the front of the case. Buying one from eBay is a total crap-shoot. I ...

Motorola Trunking

I have a collection of Systems Saber I's and Systems Saber III's and all are low-split UHF. As an experiment, I'm thinking of building a trunking system for ATV audio in the lower ATV sub-band (420MHz-432MHz) of the 70cm band. I know how trunking works, but I have no clue as to how to assemble a tru...

Re: Need battery advice

I have a collection of Saber batteries and all of them are 4" tall, some are standard, some are Impress, some are unmarked and anyone's guess what they are. I did a little measuring on the AVA's and it appears a 3.25" battery should work. Do you have any part numbers or things to look or o...

Which battery works best for Astro Sabers in the AVA? The "regular" (i.e.: HNN9033A)Saber batteries are too long and the radio won't go in enough.

Explanation of what full-duplex is...

Full-Duplex, Half-Duplex and Simplex Full-Duplex is like the telephone. You can transmit and receive at the same time. When you go through an autopatch, the one on the telephone end cannot transmit until the one with the radio un-keys. This is half-duplex. If you have two radios on the same frequenc...

The Tale of the Railroad Spectra

This is a short story of my experience with a Railroad Spectra. Perhaps someone can gain some useful information from this about the Railroad Spectra over and above what is on Batlabs. I'm a pole climber and I have mounted quite a few antennas on utility poles. It's always seemed that the easiest way to get the antenna and mast straight was to mount the antenna, coax, and other hardware first, with the pole on the ground and then set the pole. Leave the coax in a coil at the top o...
