Re: ADP Setup
Thanks everyone for your replies! I t*think* I have gotten to the heart of the issue. The radio I am trying this on is a XTS3000 which I bought used and it had the ADP flash added to it at some point. From some research I have done, it seems that Astro Saber and XTS3000 may not be able to support ...

Re: ADP Setup
Ah, thanks Ben and tvsjr. Ben, yes I do have the ADP feature. I DO NOT have the UCM however. My understanding is that you don't need a UCM to do software encryption, though you CAN get it as a feature on the UCM if you want to use hard key loading for ADP.

ADP Setup
I have a couple Motorola Radios with the ADP (Software Encryption) multikey featured installed. I can check the box, generate the 4-digit HEX keys, and configure the secure mode. I have played around with everything including the Sw slot and key slot assignments (0 to 0, 1 to 1, etc.) and for the ...

Re: Quantar TX PL dropout
Thanks! So the Receiver settings (deviation level) determines the TX levels as well...good to know! I'll try that . I Did set one of my commercial radios to narrow and it didn't seem to make a difference but I'll try it with some others. Either way I thik we'll switch from 12.5 - 15Khz spacing ...

Quantar TX PL dropout
We are using a 25W Quantar as our HAM repeater in Dual mode, also in scanning receiver mode allowing for the standard input and an alternate. CH1 receives and transmits on the same PL, CH2 receives with a DPL and transmits with a PL. Both CH1 and CH2 have Multi-Nac enabled. Most of the group uses ...

Yes, "CP" in common usage on the Batboard means "Codeplug" NOT RSS. If one were looking for RSS the radio version (B3, B5, B7) or model (8000, 9000 or MTS) would not be of significance, but in a Codeplug, it is VERY important. Typically, if one were looking for RSS they say "RSS" or "Radio Service ...

Tinny Audio on XTS5000
I am trying to figure out why the audio is so tinny (sounds like HT750 audio) on a 800 Trunked XTS5000R. I have played with the settings in the audio section and the channel spacing but no luck.... any suggestions?
Thank you!

MAXTRAC HEAT ISSUE
I just had the Maxtrac transmitter in my Desktrac repeater replaced. Afer about 5-6 min of exchanges in air traffic the PA simply SHUTS OFF. (Not gradual decrease in power) When it sits for awhile or if the radio is turned off then back on again immediately it is back up to full power.

Thanks again for the responses. Another friend of mine decided to buy the radio (not the first guy who passed on it) and he says that it programmed up fine with the standard "R" version RSS, even though the serial was 123ABC1234. Maybe it WAS a "made up" serial number from the guy who built it and ...

XTS5000 "Alpha" radios
A friend of mine was looking for a XTS5000 radio. He found one but the serial number was 123ABC1234. I recognized this as an "alpha series" radio as outlined in r0f's Astro guide for newbies that should be avoided.
The guy selling the radio said it was a "parts" radio and that is why the serial ...

Silly MSF5000 Internal Duplex Filter Question.
I just acquired a UHF "analog" MSF 5000. It is the internally duplexed model with the phasing harness. I was "told" this was a functioning repeater removed from service to be replaced by a new Quantaur. I am planning on taking it to a Motorola Shop to get programmed since I obviously do not have the ...

A Saber problem
Here is the scenario...
I have two Astro Saber III's. They have the same flashcode. One was cloned from the other, so they have the same codeplug minus individual ID's. I will call them radio #1 and radio #2.
They both receive ASTRO Digital transmissions (from LAPD) in Digital CSQ mode. Here is ...

YOu need to be in programming mode. Once you set your parameters, you hold the light button for 3 seconds. Like the other gentleman said, you just set receive PL to "000" and your transmit PL to whatever you need (let's say 007) When you close PTT, it will display the "CTCSS" icon on transmit, but not receive. Another EASIER way is to simply press the "a" button in normal operating mode, this turns PL ...

(Why are you using an ASTRO Saber if it's analog...seems like a STX, MTS2000, Modified MTX9000 would be a better solution) If if is Digital trunked, you've got me how to program it. I saw in a previous post that IMBE radios do not support MODAT. I have a IMBE Astro Saber that has it as one of the features in the flashcode, and the radio encodes MODAT. I have noticed a VERY ANNOYING buzz on high volume receive audio on the HT1250 when MDC receive is active. I have noticed that changing channel spacing to a wider setting (from 12.5 to 25khz) in each personality makes a difference in the wider the spacing the less the buzz. I have also noticed less ...
