May be able to back track the formula using the Xtal freq. Sometimes the Xtal goes into a TCXO

I think thats an RCA mike from the 60s. 1960s and 70s RCA and Dumont radios look very similar. A friend had an old Dumont VHF portable it was a clone to the RCA. I had a RCA TAC 100 CVC the mike looked like the one in the pic

Re: Motorola "Deluxe" radio

Replace electrolytics , A lot of wires lose their insulation so you should check them. Some resistors break down over time too. Transformers can short internally. I restore a lot of old vacuum tube radios and electrolytics are first. I also use a variac to bring up power. Start with 20 volts and go ...

You might also check your battery. If its failing more strain on your alternator. If all this checks time to check your alternator. You may also install a whine filter inline with your radio power lead. Try this..... http://www.worldwidedx.com/home-brew/31492-building-simple-alternator-whine-ignitio...

Re: INPUT NEEDED...whining noise on radio TX?

Does it change with engine RPM? If so its probably an alternator whine. Check your connections, antenna, power, ground. Check for corrosion on battery and alternator connections, Check capacitor on alternator...rinse repeat...YMMV

Re: apx 7000 new housing

On IS radios IIRC if you open the case it actually cracks the retaining tabs so it cant be re-used. I had a HT1000 that was IS and the tabs broke when it was opened for a board swap. Had to buy a regular case to finish the repair.
IS radios have to meet a lot of standards.

I also took some remote speaker mikes and removed the mike and speaker and routed a military female plug out of the mike housing. The aircraft crewmembers could unplug their headset from the aircraft and plug into this setup. PTT was the same old switch on the remote mike housing.

Gotta find power somewhere to power the pre-amp though. IIRC the...
