playing around a bit with my xts2500... it seems that it ALLOWED me to enter Exxx as a MDC ID...

currently mysetup is made up of a Minitor 2 pager, connected with some magic to the mic connector of a CDM1550... can i set the radio ID to Exxx, to make a group call?

i sorta remember their being an issue because the XTL doesn't have a COR out... Also, double vocoding is a bad thing.. that is... decoding audio from dig to analog, then analog to dig, that is just messy...

take off the case, remove all UHF electronics, replace with the electronics from a VHF radio, re-power... about the only way easily feasible to make the modification...

i had the same prob on my fw9 cps10 xts2500. same issues, Astro 1, MDC 1, etc... but once you program any channels OVER your 240 FPP channels, they can be ANYTHING, MDC 15, ASTRO 7, if you want :)

find a 16 or 20 pin connector, then feed +12v into Pin #10, accessory, that is, a +12v switched with the iginition key, NOT hot all the time.

i don't believe that is a selectable option, however, it seems that most Public Safety radios do that now, most switchable options are on a radio-wide basis. It is set that way so you can remember that the "radio" is on Talk-Around, not Channel 2,3,4,7 are on Talk Around, and I left Channe...

Unless I'm missing something, I think the answer is wrong. For conventional (non-trunked, non-Astro) MDC ID, either raw IDs or aliases, you don't need H14. NYPD still to this day is using an Analog Conventional (non-trunked) system. utilizing a fleeting amount of Conventional Sabers, Vertex VX-537 and Mototorola SSE-5000 portables very few if any mobiles in the system.
