MSF Metering Panel Cable

I dug out my MSF DMP today to try to troubleshoot a persistent squelch crash issue. Unfortunately, the 8 pin metering cable that went with it is MIA. Does anyone have any pinout information? Is it by chance straight through to where i could substitute with an ethernet patch cable? I have what I need...

Re: Convert MCS2000 Rear Head to Front Head?

After reading some more, I am confused... is the board inside the rear head completely different, or is the firmware the only difference. Clarification and/or conversion tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Convert MCS2000 Rear Head to Front Head?

I have a dash mount radio that I purchased on that popular auction website that doesn't have a control head. A surplus rear head was donated to me, and I would like to use it with the radio. I understand from searching on the boards that there is a difference between a front and rear head. So this l...

Re: MSF5000 Weird Warning Tone

Based on the advice of someone locally, I believe I have found the culprit. Connector J603 on the power supply distribution board somehow got a little crispy and is crystallizing. I cleaned the male end of the connector, and replaced the power supply, since I had brought a spare to the site. This sh...

Re: MSF5000 Weird Warning Tone

The power supply is a TPN1186A. The loss of transmit signal is occurring when the MSF reboots, seemingly at random. Voltage on the PA power connector is within what I believe to be acceptable range (15.54v on RX, 14.68v on TX); I haven't been able to measure it yet when the alarm is going off. Any i...

I want to say it's an 1186, but I'm not 100% sure. I was planning on going up to the site today with a whole bunch of test equipment and hanging out for a while to see if I can get the thing to act up. I will take a look then.

Re: MSF5000 Weird Warning Tone

Forgot to add that this is an older Analog (CLB) station, with the Tone remote and internal duplexer options, if either of these make a difference.

edit: The TX just dropped for 3 seconds without hearing the alert tone first, so maybe I have two different issues going on. :o

MSF5000 Weird Warning Tone

Hi everyone, I'm getting an intermittent alarm signal from my UHF MSF5000 that has me stumped. Its giving me a four beep tone, which corresponds to an overvoltage alarm, according to another post on the boards. The kicker is, this MSF doesn't have a battery revert system! Additionally, transmit will...

MTS2000 Weird Error Code

I've got a VHF MTS2000 showing an error code of 9/10. I've never heard of this one before, and can't find any reference to it in the usual places. Does anyone know what this means? The radio seems to work ok, except that plays a beep similar to the self-test beep on transmit.

I haven't paid more than $105 plus shipping for any used 900 MHZ MTS2000 handheld. I once paid $150 for a NIB MTS2000 900 MHZ from a Motorola dealer looking to unload it. Re: Spectra 900 mhz mods

I haven't had a lot of luck with modding those older VCOs. I ended up throwing the two I had (and the radios they were in) into my parts bin after harvesting the 30 watt PAs. The fact that some of the caps had puked and probably goofed up a few of the boards helped seal their fate. That might have b...

It's fairly straight forward. Be sure to write down the tuning info in relation to power output and current limiting for both radios, since these differ from PA to PA. I can't remember exactly what the current limiting setting is called in the RSS, but I do remember it is a 0-15 step setting. Good l...
