I didn’t realize the radio was smart enough to let me do wide band on ham frequencies.
I just added a few ham frequencies and it let me do them wide. Probably should have tried that first.
Thanks!

APX8500 G507-12.5 kHz FCC Mandate
I have an APX 8500.
In looking at the config it has option G507. Is there any way to remove it from my flash code so that I can put in wideband frequencies for Ham Radio?

Because you don't have to have a control point or a designated ant, location or transmitter we don't have to modify our license. It is closer to Amateur Radio in that regards, except you don't have a frequency coordinator like you do with Amateur Radio. GMRS in Utah is virtually unused. It may be a ...

GMRS is probably the way to go, for a number of reasons: 1. GMRS is exempt from the FCC Narrow-Banding requirement, along with FRS & MURS. 2. Plentiful (& cheap) supply of business band radios, which will no longer Part 90 compliant, after 1/1/2013. 3. Frequency coordination is not as chall...

Re: Pending Narrowband License
If you already have a wideband license valid until the end of the year you can go narrowband NOW if you want to. You didn't even have to apply for the license to go narrowband.
The FCC does not require you to use the whole spectrum that you are assigned. So, using 12.5 instead of 25 is just fine.
