Meh, you've got at least one other customer where it's the norm instead of the exception.

Re: Remote mounting XTL2500 control head - maximum cable len

I see on Motorola Online that the longest remote mount cable that is manufactured for the XTL2500 is 131 feet (40 meters). Is that an absolute maximum? Is there any issue with going out to, say, 250 feet, aside from having to build the cable assembly by hand? Your probably pushing the functional ab...

Re: Console headset interface for Cisco IP phone

We're waiting for Bill_G to come back from vacation and tell us that this won't work, but what we're looking at doing is using the TX/RX +/- from the headset jack on the phone into the back of the unit, and jerry-rigging something from the illuminated headset button on the bottom of the deskset for ...

Re: Shuffled band plan

According to the patent that describes the invention, there's no shuffling involved; channel number -> frequency correlations are just inverted (i.e. channel 1 is somewhere around 860.9875 and channel 750 or whatever it is is at 851.0125). As far as I can tell, there's not even an option in the CPS ...

We turn the radio on when we hear of issues, primarily, and of course every once in a while when things are a little "boring" (to try and use a word that Murphy might not hear...)

Total shot in the dark, Bill, but have you tried to fully qualify the url? i.e. http://123.45.67.89:80/ (or s://...:443/ as the case may be). Tried to use the contrived name you used in the hosts file? (http://somehost:80/)?

Re: XTL2500 Telephone Handset wiring

Our application is transit. Lots of extraneous background noise (wooshing through a 3 mile long tunnel, freeway noise, and that's with the cab windows shut). There's also a "security" consideration - the mobile speakers are loud enough and the cab walls thin enough, that the radio can be h...

Re: XTL2500 Telephone Handset wiring

Correct - there is a connection from the radio audio out to the handset and then from the handset to the mobile speaker. However, depending on which flavor of handset this is, be aware that Motorola has disco'd (with no comment) production, and there is no listed substitute at this time. (I can't re...

Re: MCS 2000 CPS and Windows 7

FYI, the Windows license is nothing like the licenses from /\/\. It's a common misconception (probably thanks to MS), but when you buy XP it's yours. If the computer the disk came with is no longer among the living, it's perfectly legal to install Windows from that disk on another computer - or, if...

I have a whole lot of screen caps from our Gold Elite system that I've used in training manuals. PM an email address and I can send it to you. I don't have it zipped up, but I've got a bunch of stuff. And I do mean a *bunch*.

Let me know.

Re: Vehicle noise at 160mhz

If the company had any brass ones, they would sent the engine back and tell the MFG to fix it. But we know that won't happen . Maybe rocking the boat will get an engineer out to at least see the problem and then be told to resolve it. Don't hold your breath. The MFG went out of business before this...

Re: impres charger question

Thanks, akardam. Off to MOL to order.

I should add that when we remove and reapply power to the unit, all six pockets give a green status light during the self-test; however, we never get any status lights when charging any battery (either impres or not).

impres charger question

sorry if this belongs elsewhere - wasn't sure. We have a WPLN4121BR Impres Gang charger, and one of the pockets will not work for *any* battery. This unit does not have the displays for each pocket. We have checked the individual fuse for the pocket and that didn't correct the issue. Next step? Serv...

Did you save the new configuration with the same name as the old one? Although we don't use paging at my agency, we've had issues where the startup shortcut points to "default.cfg" and we created a new one called "agency.cfg", so we had to change the startup shortcut to load the ...

Can anybody help identify the following data? It is obviously trunked system activity; but I am curious what it's origin is. The agency I work for has 11 different flavors of mobiles and portables (MTS2000 I, II, III; MCS2000 III; Spectra E5, E7, E3 (? the one with rotary knobs instead of rocker switches) -- these are the ones I can remember off hand).
