You can remove the Text Message Server (TMS) and keep it from trying to send text through a gateway -

When you say I know I have the right package in my update folder. you do mean that you ran the install exe and in installed the components for the firmware upgrade .. We support Data messaging for a number of hotels with many SL-7550s with more being selected every day.. I have not heard of any issues and one of the properties is Capacity plus with all Sl-7550s an more than 25K data messages a month.
