Did you try the Windows version of the CPS? I was not aware there was a DOS version for the 1225 series. Forewarning, the Windows version will not run on anything higher than Win98. I had to setup a dual boot partition with Win98 just to maintain a GR1225 repeater.

It is only by coincidence that the speaker plug and the mic plug fit each other, but that is not how it works. From the original kit, the speaker and the mic attached independently to specified ports on the phone cradle box, they do not plug into each other.

Windows 10 is Not supported for Astro CPS. If you absolutely want to use it regardless of the consequences, then you have to use the 32 bit version, not 64 bit.

If it's on an LTR mode, they do transmit one or more bursts before channel grant. But I don't recall an emergency option, so I'm not sure that's the culprit. Could be a modified or shorted mic jack, which would explain being unable to read it. Can you change modes after power on to see if it has a c...

Easiest way (assuming you don't have all the specific programming cables and software for each radio) is to use an RF frequency counter. http://www.ebay.com/itm/170661811778 The only thing the freq counter won't tell you is the PL/DPL code the radios are transmitting, if any.
