W8AK has made a repeater out of GP300's and describes how he did it.
Doesn't really help because there's no schematics of where they tapped the discriminator or where they found a place to inject flat tx audio.

Syntor X9000 VHF -- bandwidth? Codeplug EEPROM?

Question. I've heard a lot about how lowband X9000 radios can work 6m AND 10m out of the box. What's the bandwidth of a VHF unit like? If I'm using a VHF X9000 on 144.39 MHz, so I need to retune? Also, does anyone know what type of EEPROM the codeplug is stored on? I've read that one can simply copy...

GP300 for low-profile repeater transmitter/receiver?

I seem to remember the GP300 having a connector at the bottom for optional add-on boards, like aftermarket signalling and such.

Does anyone have the pinout for that?

And does anything need to be enabled in the radio?

Thanks.

I've read that Kenwood TK-790's will do 5 watts on low-power transmit. Does anyone know if there is a duty-cycle limit? To spring or not to spring a Larson NMO antenna?

Planning a mobile install.

Since it's a hatchback with a sunroof, I'll be doing two L-bracket mounts near the hood with NMO's.

I'm planning on using Larson 5/8 wave VHF antennas.

Larson has optional springs you can buy.

What are the pros or cons to using springs?

Thanks, guys!

I went to Hamvention with a Syntor X VHF T73 or T83 on my list for a single-mode APRS radio. Sure, they're pretty ancient, but they're at least 100 Watts, they are very well heatsinked and are at least fairly reliable. Also, they're easy to convert to an APRS radio. In the RSS, it seems to convert the frequency entered in the trunking personality into the FCC channel number.

You can program it for out of band, program, and still be stuck with the closest FCC channel number.

Where is the magic list stored? The RSS or the firmware?
