Don't forget the specific tools needed for the assembly/disassembly, the chassis is the same, but you will need all the plastic parts.

The head not allowing on/off at is a jumper in the head.
The other issues are brought on by the radios model #, only a couple of ways to fix it.

Probably not designed to be run with a control head on that configuration, it's possible that it can be brought to useable status, but it would loose its cool flashcode. I'd love to look at it on the bench.

You can't change colors on the 09 head, it is a color display, you can dim it or invert the color, i.e. make the white black and the black white, great for night time use.

Did you try reprogramming the unit? I had one just last week that the gun lock timer quit working, reprogrammed and it works fine, no clue what happened, but it's fixed now.

He most likely will have to go in steps, anything below 8.xx.xx a USB cable won't work, he will have to use a rs232 for the first fw bump. Then a USB for the rest. Side note, A buddy of mine just bought a pm1500 off this board, allegedly un-flashable according to the guy who owned it, who had flashe...

If the radio is isolated the. The problem is within the vehicle. I have seen many problems in the past, it they are generally on a case by case basis. As far as the radio doing janky stuff..... The power wire from the brick will have to be switched as well too. Otherwise, the brick will draw current because it is searching for the control head.

The best outcome..... just a volume control. The worst case....a control top assembly. I have had at least a dozen that were dumped on the volume control, same above 2 outcomes.

You are correct, unfortunately it doesn't turn the radio on/off. I am sure that something could be hex edited into the radio for operation, I also know that this was looked into several years ago and it just sort of faded away.
