Re: Minitor II questions.
I worded the channel question poorly. I meant having channel 1 page in position A, channel 1 monitor in position B, and channel 2 monitor in position C. Can they be configured for something like that? I suppose I wasn't clear with question 3. Lets say I have a board currently tuned to 159, can I ret...

Minitor II questions.
I don't have a Minitor II yet, but there are a couple things I'm curious about: 1. I don't know exactly how the chargers operate. Would it be possible to operate a II with the pager in the charger, but without a battery in it? Just curious if the charger trickle charges the pager, or if the charging...

This has me thinking..... Has anybody ever actually tried this on a low band or VHF radio? Since they arent exactly designed with radio in mind, I wonder how much RF noise is present on the output. Are you scoping that, or is that just a multimeter reading? I've had a spectra do the exact same thing because it was receiving brief power fluctuations during the self test. It took me a while to determine that the radio wasn't at fault....fire-medic8104 wrote:It is actually 14.3 and never moves during power up.

It is possible to change the PA, but unless you have experience with surface mount rework, then I dont recommend doing it yourself. Not only is the RF PA a surface mount device, but I believe it is also covered by a surface mount shield that you must carefully remove.

Yeah, I wasn't sure what your level of experience was with this kind of stuff. I can tell you from personal experience that if you dont feel comfortable, its probably best to find somebody who does.
If you ask around, maybe you can find one of our members who would be willing to look at it for you.

Re: battery consumption with Power OFF
Yes, by PA I meant the RF power amplifier. I just looked at the schematic for the 388, and it looks like the RF PA, the audio PA and a 3.5v regulator are all fed by unswitched B+, so these are all possible culprits. The schematic shows that the 3.3V regulator feeds an internal lithium ion battery. I...

How often does this happen? Do the emergencies always come from the same radio ID? Are there any other agencies on this frequency that are close enough for you to normally hear? The deviation on the QCII tones is probably too high for narrowband, and its exceeding the bandwidth of the filters in the radio. Theres probably not much you can try. You're correct, nothing is THAT easy. You'll need to get someone (like ICM) to make the correct crystals for your frequencies, and then align the radio. Hey guys, I have a low band M3 that is having issues. If I leave the pager sit, sometimes the squelch will open up and remain open until the case is gently squeezed.
