sounds like a high SWR...is the duplexer tuned correctly? or hooked up properly. TX/RX swapped? is it the right antenna ? you said you used VHF and now UHF .. did you change antennas? Is the coax not shorted to ground? these are the first things I check

Have you tried to contact the seller? There is a way around it.. it involves a program from Motorola that is not depot. I am unsure if it is verboten to speak of here or not. But it will remove an ASK

1 APX only supports P25 which is a digital format 2 Yes it is all done in the programming of the radio 3 no if they are using P25 they can use the same equipment 4 No. unless you have a common analog fireground channel to use Now for the other questions when you say digital is this a trunking system...

Nope... you will have to bring in your own power. There is a way to drill the firewall behind the glove box where a white plastic fill plate is then it comes up behind the strut tower then have to run the power along the top of the firewall to the battery.. All the wire colors can be found at Bulldo...

No the signal is ground side. You would have to have a relay to switch to ground trigger to 12v to use the siren..

The older saber SVA does not have the pin on the accessory connector to activate the antenna switch to change the RF to go out to the external antenna like an ASTRO AVA. You won't have the benefit of an external antenna but the charger and audio will still work.

My memory fails me on when USB was first supported in CPS, but R9.xx.xx seems it could (could) be a bit early. It has to run in true DOS so you need to start the computer in DOS and then look for HT1000.exe it should look like C:/HT1000.exe

You do not want to use a PSM mic for VHF go with a regular 7" antenna on the radio. Saber speaker mics are cheap .. Also Sabers are not narrowband and wont do the splinter freqs

I use a sti-co Flexi whip for VHF because of clearance issues with my garage door. I have had good luck with it. I cut one down to UHF just so they match on the roof.

Most of the ALT radios Panter had are long gone and now on their 2nd and 3rd owners. A lot of what he has are parts built from other sources.
