the option field on the configuration report shows the software option field. Usually this is 00000002 which has the file system enabled. always active. Plate is there to protect the contacts from dirt and damage.
There is a cable internal that may have gotten disconnected or you have an issue on the video card

re-cap the power supply ...at least the low voltage filter section.

The 8920A is in the twenty year old range and the power supplies are starting to go ....often preceded by a bad smell or puffs of smoke on power up

The tracking gen is an option even on the 1200 Super S .

It's a feature normally enabled at the factory in the processor card.

There is normally an additional high level amp installed for the tracking gen output with the Option 12 as well

Tried Motorola Online to see if they still had a copy of the manual but no joy.

Is the resource CD you are referring to the one for the 2600 series or one that covered both the 2590 and 2600 ?

I have the 2600 resource CD but have not tried any of the utilities to see if they work with the 2590.

could you be a little more descriptive on what that means ?
Not sure if it means the squelch is stuck open or you get no RX audio.
There is an LED on the front panel on top of the squelch control to indicate if the squelch is open or closed internally at least

Tried General Dynamics but no response and all the ones I found on the web are just the preliminary Ops manual.

Last firmware would be great as well if anyone kept a copy.

response is not always flat depending on the frequency being used as well...always used a jumper first to see what flat response looked like, Usually provided a decent visualization of the response curve but actual insertion loss and rejection values would have to be determined at the point frequenc...

As mentioned before would go through the whole 1200 calibration in order. That way you have a solid base ...would use the high loop adjustment procedure on the KG electronics website ...much more direct method of doing the alignments.
