19" rack mounts for radios
anyone know were to get the 19" rackmounts for radios i have a about 8 or so i need to rackmount
Re: 19" rack mounts for radios
You can get 19 inch racks from just about any telecom supplier - Tessco, Newark, Graybar.
But, if you mean tabs to mount radios in a 19" rack, you would have to be specific about which model. No mobiles have rack mount options. You have to use rack shelves.

Re: 19" rack mounts for radios
I've had custom 19" rack-mount panels made by Dick at http://novexcomm.com/
He is excellent to deal with and usually has a lot of Motorola panels ready to ship, some of the more obscure applications he has to make by hand but he does top quality work!

Also look at Middle Atlantic. I discovered that they offer rack mounts for specific radios. I have not seen or used them...

Re: 19" rack mounts for radios
I've seen rack mount panels for the CDM radios offered on Ebay in the recent past. There's nothing up there right now, but it may be worth setting up a saved search and see if anything pops up in the weeks ahead.
It would also be very easy to adapt the standard Jotto or Havis automotive console panels to 19" rack mounting. I know there are lots of bits and pieces of standard 19" hardware available to make up something without a lot of customizing.

Novex is who is selling on eBay.
Re: 19" rack mounts for radios
I like the concept. Will bear Novex in mind the next time I have mobile control stations that need to be rack mounted. Normally I bolt their mobile bracket to a shelf along with the associated remote adapter and power supply. Not very glamorous, but functional.
Thanks for the link.

1) a 3-U rack panel, blank, I like to use the ones with a flange;
2) Jottodesk Faceplate; (for Kenwood 880's, #425-6082, for CDM1250's, 425-6303.)
Take your rack panel to the machine shop, have them cut an outline just a bit larger than the radio is width & height. Align your faceplates on the front of the panel, screw down, then insert the radios & attach with the regular install screws to the ears sticking back from the faceplate.
I did this with two racks of radios on shelves & CPI TTP's and got it down to one tall rack & 26 radios, honkin' power supply.
Here's my prototype, with a CPI Rack Panel for TTP's

You can also look at ICT's RMK1:
http://www.ict-power.com/products/displ ... hp?id=1235
and add faceplates to the front.
