CDM dead after head attachment

Post by RadioSouth »

Anyone know if this radio might be easily fixed or am I in deep ?

Attached an apparent bad CDM1550 head to radio, radio powered on went into a loop of double beeps. Shut radio down, reset CH flex, powered back on, dead. Attached working head from other radio
still no power up. There any protective components in the chassis that would pop with a bad head ?

There's a surface mount 3A fuse that supplies power to the control head. The voltage on the schematics is labeled FLT_A+ and it goes to pin 10 of the 12 pin flex connector.
Where it is exactly on the board varies from model to model, I've even seen some where it is a thin trace on the board instead of a fuse. Do you have the detailed service manual?

Thanks Jack, have the basic manual and a good start now. Glad it has protection, hopefully it caught the problem.
