Motorola REN-4000A Controller Flex Extender Fixture

OK. I am sure some folks will get a chuckle out of this, but, like I have mentioned before, I am not afraid to admit that I don't know something. A kind friend who knows I would like to learn more actually sent me one of theses REN-4000A Controller Flex Extender Fixtures complete with plugs factory marked with "MT1000" and "HT600". What is the function of this board with regards to these radios of which I own several of? Is it something that you need more than software to use? Thanks in advance for your help.
