Conversion MTS2000 800mhz to VHF ;-)

Post by saberjerk »

I would like to convert my 800mhz MTS2000 into a vhf radio. I have heard that the HT1000 RF boards will work in the MTS2000.
I am very aware of the toolproofing issue. And I don't find much on this board to resolve this issue.
So to accomplish this feat I'm thinking I will have to convert the radio into a MT2100.
I checked and the controller and rf board are separate boards in this radio. No uniboard ;-)
I know of Andreas. Most of the links to his german site are dead !??!?!
Is he still here on this board ?
From what I have read there is a special UNIRIB ?
But the hows and to's, to get the mt2100 firmware into the radio I AM CLUELESS.
Possibly a program called wookie mobius is the secret ??
Anyone here that could work with me on this endeavor I would be eternally grateful.
thanks

Yeah I know this is an old radio. Guess no one really cares about these anymore.

Possible no one cares because there are dozens of VHF Jedi's selling for $50 or less. Not worth the effort. GARY

You are probably right Gary ;-)
I did get an email from Andreas though if anyone cares.
Thank you Andreas for your email. Now I just need to figure this all out.

Hello!
You have to change the RF-board and flash the controller with 2100 series firmware.
Create a default codeplug with this:http://www.agh-technik.orgfree.com/arch ... -EN-DE-UHF High.zip 2100 Series DOS RSS.
Read the codeplug and write the radio with this tool: http://www.agh-technik.orgfree.com/arch ... cp-prg.zip
Flash the radio with this upgradekit: http://www.agh-technik.orgfree.com/ archiv/ 2100upg_lab.zip
You can get into the lab mode if you type x ,after starting the upgradetool.
Run bootstrap and flash new application.
Read the radio with the DOS RSS and retune it.
You need a modified RIB or the Unirib http://agh-technik.orgfree.com/gif/unirib.gif for flashing!
You also need the proper cable for programming and flashing:http://agh-technik.orgfree.com/gif/jediportserv.gif

While that MAY work, it sure looks like a lot of effort vs spending $50 to get a working radio. A year ago I picked up a MINT VHF MTS2000 B5 from Erik, MTS2000DES for $60. Erik has stellar feedback here, so I knew I was getting an as new radio. GARY
