MICOM 100 SSB Audio Quality?

Hello!
I am looking for information on audio bandwidth on a MICOM 100 SSB radio.
The receive audio to me is very narrow, almost piercing. No low frequency response to speak of. It takes the definition of communications quality audio to new levels.
I have nothing to reference it to as far as other MICOM 100's. I do not see anything in the manual that addresses this in the alignment section.
It sounds a little better with an external speaker, but not much.
I do have a MICOM 2ET that sounds much better.
Does anyone have any information as to making changes as far as broadening the audio bandwidth?
