DTR650 - stuck PTT microswitch - removing rubber cover

Post by g8tzl2004 »

I have a DTR650 which has a stuck PTT micro-switch.

I've "manipulated" the rubber PTT cover and the PTT micro-switch has sort of released and if I gently press the PTT it will release OK when I stop pressing. But if I press harder (as in normal use), the PTT micro-switch still gets stuck and you need to start manipulating the rubber PTT cover to release the PTT micro-switch.

I guess something sticky has got inside the PTT which can probably be removed with some contact cleaner.

Does anybody know if I can just force off the rubber PTT cover to expose the PTT micro-switch or do I need to dismantle the radio?

Thanks
