HT1550XLS Display Question

HT1550XLS Display Question

i know the 1550 has a 4 line display, but exactly what is useable for names?
im sure one is 14 char for the channel name, but is another for the zone name?
i cant find detailed info on what the 4 lines are for particularly.

One line for channel
One line for zone
One line for frequency/PL
One line for clock

Just to add to tvsjr's info:

You can have any combination of those 4 lines, in any order you like (I suppose the CPS would even let you program duplicates, though that would just be silly). You can also set the option to have various things like call stack status, vox status, MDC ID decode, etc, on the clock/status line.

It's really quite neat. I love my HT1550.

P.S. You actually have a full 16 character display. Those two extra chars sure do come in handy on the channel names.

True, I forget about these things. I sold my 1550 collection (all 3 bands) a few years back.

The 1550's will go out of band. Just use the FPP trick.

Stupid question, what do you have to do to get the MDC ID Decode to work other than the programming? Anything?

As far as I know all you need to do is to have a MDC system set under Conventional Personality>Signalling>RX System. Note that it won't decode if the radio hears its own ID, but it will decode on everything else.
