Considering purchase of a low-split UHF Astro Spectra for ham use. I believe it's quoted from 403-437 MHz according to the parent site's info.
Anyone have any practical experience taking these up to somewhere between 440 and 450MHz and know if they'll do it without any mods?
Thanks

Re: Astro Spectra low UHF out-of-band question
This is been covered ad infinitum.. but no, neither the Astro Spectra or Analog Spectra in UHF Range 1 will do 440-450 without extensive hardware modifications. If you're feeling brave a complete write-up of the required mods has been posted here, but be warned that doing all of it still won't give you P25 TX from 440 to 450.
If you want 440-450 P25 in a Motorola mobile, your options are thus:
-A Range 2 438-470 motorcycle Analog Spectra combined with your Astro VOCON, controller, and RF board with an Astro Spectra Range 2 codeplug forced in.
-A factory Range 2 438-470 Astro Spectra.
-A UHF XTL5000.

Thank you. That's exactly what I needed to know.
Apologies for beating an apparently dead horse.
