Convert MCS2000 Rear Head to Front Head?

Post by n5api »

I have a dash mount radio that I purchased on that popular auction website that doesn't have a control head. A surplus rear head was donated to me, and I would like to use it with the radio. I understand from searching on the boards that there is a difference between a front and rear head. So this leads me to the question, can I turn a rear head into a front head, or is this not possible? Any info or advice is welcome.

Thanks,
John

After reading some more, I am confused... is the board inside the rear head completely different, or is the firmware the only difference. Clarification and/or conversion tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
