KVL Battery Charging Time

Post by pks »

I have a BatteryZone BZ9998 NiCad 7.5V 1400mAh battery for my T3011DX and a Motorola NLN8856 charger with an output rating of 10.6V 400mA. How long should I be charging the battery with the charger I have?

If that charger has both red and green lights on it, as I think it does, then you don't control the charging time. The charger starts with the red light on and switches to green when the battery's internal resistance rises to a point where the battery is fully, or nearly fully, charged.

If by chance there are no lights on the charger then it's a manual, slow charger and the slow charge time for a 1400 mAh battery would be 14 hours.
