Hello all
I need to put up an older but still good DB224 Dipole.
It will be a side mount on the tower.
For the life of me I can't remember which element faces away from the tower.
Seems like I can find every thing on line but that, or am I imagining it needs to be done.
O' well senility some times has its advantages.
Thanks for any help

Not trying to put down your search, but there is a ton of information on the Internet on this antenna. Many of them provide the different orientation information. You might also take a look at the repeater builder's site and collect what they have. There are even sites on how to make your own coax harness for these antennas.

Re: DB 224 tower side mount
Thanks Jim but I have looked they provied lots of great info as you said.
But for some reason I am thinking on a DB224 set in an omni configuration
One of the elements either the top or the bottom of the 4 must be pointed away
From the tower to achieve the proper pattern. That is my delima.
Thanks

Try looking at this file from the repeater builders site. Guess you don't read very well.

Or directly from the manufactures site for side mounting. . . However in 1995 when I moved a high band base station from a site where we were top mounted @ 175' and went to side mounted @ 175' I called Andrew for more information. The resulting question was "how far away will you be mounting from the tower? are you using upper and lower bracing?" In our case we were on a standard 6' side arm on a tower and only using the bottom anchoring same as if top mounted. There reply back was the change in pattern won't be noticeable leave it set for omni the way it comes out of the box. Might just pay to email support or call support and ask them and have all mounting information ready.
As always this is my $2.25 and YMMV!
