Question: MTR2000 programming over RS232 - IP Converters

Hello,

Have any of us successfully been able to program MTR2000's using an RS232 - TCP/IP converter that "connects" via Ethernet to a software driver on the programming laptop (without needing a second converter at the laptop end)?

If so, what model / brand of converter did you use and which OS/version worked in your application?

Thanks in advance, Bob

This is something I have been wondering, too.

I would guess that low latency would be the key. Do you have a good solid network that you control between points A and B? Or is it going over the public Internet?

I know it can tolerate a bit of jumpiness because we program them all the time with cheap USB-RS232 converters and they seem to work fine. Some older radios will not work with those converters but the MTR2000 seems to be fine.
